Day 1 ends in Accra

The highlight of my day has by far been the 2-3hr conversation I had tonight with bro' Kwadwo (as I like to call him). It was great catching up and hearing his perspective on his move back to Ghana from Philly a few years ago.

Last night I came in to pretty much what I expected. The roads hadn't changed too much but some of them had changed. It struck me how old and run down things looked to me at the house but I guess they got that way gradually so they probably don't look that bad to Moms :-) Moms has been fun to hang with but tried to start complaining about my gaining weight. I told her I didn't care because I know I'm healthy so she needs to lay off. I think she has.

As much as I don't like to date Af-Am men, that's one area in which they act much better than African or Caribbean men. They don't think they're europeans and don't need women to be 2% body fat to be attractive. God bless 'em! I'm so over the "your stomach isn't flat!, this is serious!" line. I'm so not putting pressure on myself, I look just fine ;-) I'll have some pictures on here to prove it in a bit.

I've been totally exhausted (Jet lag and a lack of sleep) and the Internet at home runs like molasses. I've been behind on work too so grading has been fun from here. I stayed up almost all last night working. I miss El and the twins, I miss my car and chipotle mexican grill. I miss Tampa.

I'm willing to look into business here but the chances that I'll stay are slim in my eyes right now. This blog should track my perspective as I go forward with this. There seems to be some opportunity for business and a lot of opportunity for low overhead endeavors on my part. I have to wait and see what comes from my research. I'd much rather go back and forth, live in Tampa and make some consulting money in Accra if it's worth it.

It is cool how I can call Florida phones direct for the same cost on my "One Touch" cell phone. I sent a text message from my cell to El today as well. I'm curious to know if he got it.

I got invited to the beach tomorrow, that should be fun. I'll update on that as I go. I'm already feeling more motivated, which is great. I feel like i can go back, make a 5-10yr plan and execute, just like I did after I left the first time. Most likely a PhD though. Nothing else looks like long term rewards like getting my PhD in counseling. It is kingdom work and most in line with what feeds my soul.

I'm ready now, after having worked almost aimlessly for the past year or so, I'm ready to buckle down and DO SOMETHING SPECIFIC. Stipend, teaching (maybe a bit online still) and school. It will be perfect. I'm off to grade for an hour or two and I'm going to bed. Tomorrow is another day.
